The Sterling Hill Institute of Geosciences and its parent, the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, have formed agreements and partnerships with other New Jersey educational institutions in order to support pre- and in-service teachers of science throughout the State of New Jersey.

New Jersey Department of Education

Sterling Hill Mining Museum is a registered New Jersey Department of Education Professional Development provider (#198).

Montclair State University PRISM

PRISM (Professional Resources in Science & Mathematics), a New Jersey Statewide Systemic Initiative (SSI) Regional Center, directed by Jacalyn Willis, Ph.D., relies on the Earth science content and pedagogical expertise at Sterling Hill when providing professional development for science teachers in Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson counties.

County College of Morris

Under the direction of Trish Rokosz, Project Director, the New Jersey Statewide Systemic Initiative (SSI) Phase II Regional Center at the college partners with us to conduct professional development workshops for science teachers in Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties.

New Jersey Geological Survey (NJGS)

The scientists at NJGS, an agency of the New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection, support the educational programs at Sterling Hill in many ways, including as content reviewers for our publications and professional development instructors. In addition, NJGS is the publisher of Sterling Hill’s New Jersey Rocks and Sediments Kit Teaching Guide.
