The KIDS section of the site does not collect any personally identifying information from its visitors, nor is there a link to the “Contact Us” page from the KIDS section of our site. Additionally, the “Contact Us” page reminds children under 13 that they are not to contact us without permission of their teacher or parent. Although most nonprofit organizations, such as the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, are not subject to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Federal Trade Commission’s Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, we take children’s privacy seriously and have read the Rule thoroughly. Because we do not collect personally identifying information from children under 13, we are not subject to the Rule. To learn more about COPPA and the Rule, visit the FTC’s site called “Kidz Privacy.“ Your privacy is important to the Sterling Hill Institute of Geosciences. Please take the time to read our policy regarding visitors who are age 13 and older. If you, your students, or members of your family are under 13, please take the time to review our Children’s Privacy Policy.
