Spring and Summer 2008

 

 

 

GENERAL SCHEDULE

·          March

Open weekends, Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting. Tours at 1:00 PM

Mineral collecting on the Mine Run dump permitted daily, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Mineral collecting in the Passaic and Noble pits on March 30 only, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

                        Fees for mineral collecting:  $5 admission plus $1.50/lb for all material taken

 

·          April through September

Gift shop open seven days a week, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Tours daily at 1:00 PM. Other times by chance or appointment

Mineral collecting on the Mine Run dump permitted daily, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

                        Fees for mineral collecting:  $5 admission plus $1.50/lb for all material taken

·          NJESA Gem and Mineral Show (first day; continues April 27)

36th annual NJESA Gem and Mineral Show and Outdoor Swap and Sell

Franklin School, Franklin, New Jersey

9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (indoors); 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM (outdoor swap and sell)

·          Annual Show Banquet and Auction  (Attendance limited to 60 people)

Geotech Center, Sterling Hill Mining Museum

6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

·          Sterling Hill Garage Sale (first day)

Christiansen Pavilion, Sterling Hill Mining Museum

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

·          Day-and-Night Mineral Collecting at Sterling Hill

Organized by the Delaware Valley Earth Science Society and North East Field

Trip Alliance. $20 per person includes extended mine tour and registration;

$1.50 per pound for material collected. Preregistration required;

 May 31 (Saturday)

·          Fluorescent Mineral Society meeting

                        1:00 PM - 5:00 PM     Meeting and presentations in the Geotech Center

                        5:00 PM - 7:00 PM     Dinner ($10 per person, soft drinks included, BYOB otherwise)

                        7:00 PM - 9:30 PM     Night collecting on the Mine Run dump and Passaic and Noble pits

Fees for mineral collecting:  $5 admission plus $1.50/lb for all material taken

June 21 (Saturday)

·          Day and Night Collecting on the Mine Run dump and in the Passaic and Noble pits

9:00 AM - 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM      (Open only to museum members)

 

Other Museum Activities Open to the Public:

Outdoor Flea Market and Collecting on the Mine Run dump and in the Passaic and Noble pits will take place on the last Sunday of each month, March through August (March 30, April 27, May 25, June 29, July 27, August 31, September 28). Hours are 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM each day.

Admission to Outdoor Flea Market is free. Fees for mineral collecting include $5 admission charge plus $1.50/lb for all material taken.
